In The year 1994, group of young men came together and formed a self help group.They called it Maahad Daawah Group. The name Maahad was derived from the small room they started their activities from in Girls Training Institute premises; famously known as Maahad. Their Motto " for the pleasure of Allah" is still their mainstay.

The activities of the group were limited to holding weekly Lectures, and collecting funds to sponsor a number of poor and needy students from rural areas of Isiolo District, Kenya.

As their activities grew to include collection of Zakat, distribution of Iftar (foodstuff) during the holy month of Ramadhan, to assisting other organizations in distributing and slaughtering Qurbani Animals.

As their activities grew from year to year; the group in 1999 registered itself as Non Governmental Organization. With this registration they could now carry out their programs country wide in Kenya without any hindrance.

The main objectives were as follows:

1. To provide secondary school bursaries to the orphans and needy students.

2. To operate children's feeding centers and health facilities.

3. To operate Educational and Vocational training Institutes.

4. To provide relief and rehabilitation to the needy.

5. To uplift the economic standings of the populace, by starting self help projects and making them
    self-dependant.

6. Programs for Poverty reduction in the society.
